50m-euro Interhome store chain

Interhome Romania, the branch of Belgium-based Interhome International will develop a store chain, with units taking up 3,000 to 10,000 sqm and aimed at interior decorations and construction supplies. The investment will amount to 40-50 million euros by 2010. "Romania will be Interhome's centre of operations for the Balkan area and the Romanian managers will be developing our businesses in the region. (...) The countries targeted at first are Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia," Rob Den Hartog, company chairman said. The first store in Romania, which will take up 3,000 sqm will open in Ploiesti in August 2004, following a 3.6 million-euro investment. The store will be in close proximity of the Bucharest-Ploiesti national road by the exit from the Prahova County. "We chose Ploiesti so that we could properly prepare for Bucharest," Constantin Caruntu, Interhome Romania commercial manager said. ZF
