Elgeka-Ferfelis acquires its own warehouses

21.09.2006, 19:39 23

Ioannis Ferfelis, chairman and chief executive of distributor Elgeka-Ferfelis in Romania, says the company's strategy includes acquiring warehouses that are currently rented by the company. "We no longer favour renting in order to meet our logistical needs, because the process of moving a warehouse is complex, involving both time and resources; we also need to be able to control the temperature of the warehouses, which is harder to achieve in regular warehouses," said Ioannis Ferfelis. The company has recently acquired warehouses in Cluj and Iasi and is looking to further its strategy by purchasing the warehouse in Constanta. The investment plan for this year is estimated at 5 million euros, both to develop on the Romanian market and for expansion into Bulgaria. Elgeka-Ferfelis Romania, a few months ago acquired a 75% stake in a Bulgarian distributor, which has now reached some 100 employees, a 49-vehicle car fleet and 7 operational warehouses.
