Package holidays for the Romanian seaside have seen an increase ever since the low season, by 50% against last year. The number of Romanian and foreign tourists who visit coastal resorts is increasing, with the majority choosing the resorts of Mamaia and Neptun. "Since May, we have had a 50 % sales increase against last year, and estimate we will see a 20% growth for the overall tourist season at the seaside. Resorts such as Mamaia and Neptun have an almost 100% occupancy rate," Corina Martin, chairperson of the National Association of Travel Agencies in the South-Eastern region, told a press conference on Wednesday. Ciprian Popescu, TUI representative in Romania, said the number of foreign tourists has increased 10% against last year. "Whereas 2006 saw approximately 50,000 foreign tourists, in 2007 we estimate levels will reach 55,000," said Ciprian Popescu.
