Vodafone revenues up 18.8% in Q3 of fiscal 2007/2008

Vodafone Romania's revenues advanced by 18.8% in the third quarter of fiscal year 2007/2008 compared with the previous year, after the domestic market continued to act as the main growth driver for Eastern Europe, as indicated by the British group's financial report.
The domestic growth rate in the October-December 2007 period remained the same as in the previous quarter.
The number of customers reached 8.8 million in late December, from 8.57 million at the end of H1, which ended in September. Out of the total number of customers, 65% were pre-paid card users.
Customers of subscription-based services accounted for 34.8% of overall Vodafone Romania users, compared with 34.1% in the previous quarter, and 33.5% in the same period last year, according to a company statement.
The company's number of 3G customers rose to 603,983 in December 31, 2007.
"Vodafone Romania continues to witness a constant expansion of its customer base (by 8.807 customers in late December 2007) and boasted strong growth in terms of service revenues (by 18.8%, from the same period of last year). At the same time, we've also witnessed sustained growth in terms of our subscriber base, by 4%, over the past 12 months," stated the general manager of Vodafone Romania, Liliana Solomon.
She highlighted that Romania continues to be the main growth driver in Eastern Europe and one of Vodafone's top performing units, amid an increasingly competitive market.
In calendar 2007, Vodafone Romania added a total number of 1,091,154 customers, which corresponds to an annual growth of 4%.
The average monthly income per user remained unchanged from the second quarter at 11.1 euros, up from 11 euros in the same period of the previous year. According to the British group's report, Vodafone Romania started to calculate rates in euros on October 1, 2007 (the report's data is based on the exchange rate on this date).
In Eastern Europe, the group's overall revenues climbed by 9.9%, compared with 9% in the July-September 2007 quarter.
The third quarter of fiscal year 2007/2008 covers the September 1-December 31, 2007 period. According to the British financial calendar, the fiscal year starts in April 1, 2007 and ends in March 31, 2008.
