A&D Pharma starts investments in private medical sector: at least 4 clinics in 2010

The A&D Pharma Group, the biggest player on the Romanianpharmaceutical market, with half a billion euros in turnover,expects to open "at least four clinics" under the Anima brand inBucharest by the end of the year, with a first clinic alreadyoperational in the Piata Victoriei area of Bucharest.

"The Anima Victoriei project provides for 100 doctors and we arevery close to reaching this number. Bucharest is our focus for now,but we will in the future assess development opportunities in otherRomanian cities. Our plan over the next two years is for A&DPharma to become one of the leading players on this market," saidRobert Popescu, CEO of A&D Pharma.

At the beginning of this year A&D Pharma announced it hadset up a new division of private medical services, Anima SpecialtyMedical Services, which would work both with individual patientsand with companies.

The clinic in Piata Victoriei covers 600 square metres andincludes 15 specialised offices. The company has not revealed thevalue of investments, but according to ZF estimates, the necessaryamount for one such clinic is less than 1 million euros, with thecompany's clinic expansion project likely to amount to severalmillion euros.
