The Alba-Iulia-based Pomponio company, the constructions company behind the Romaqua group's brewery and a new production facility for Albalact expects to derive a turnover worth 25 million euros this year, up 86% on 2006, amid a rapid growth in domestic demand, particularly industrial construction for local companies.
"This year's increase in the financial indicators is largely due to the investment projects that are ongoing in Alba County for which we were chosen as builders," Luca Anversa, chairman with Pomponio company, told ZF.
Another Pomponio project is related to the construction of a slaughterhouse for the Transavia firm, one of the leaders of the poultry market.
Pomponio's suppliers include Holcim Romania for cement, Cifa Spa Italy for equipment, concrete pumps and mixing stations, and Maie Spa Italy for constructions equipment. The company's main clients are Holzindustrie Sebes, Kronospan, Transavia, Albalact, Romaqua Grup, Ciatti (a furniture plant), Casagrande (a fodder machinery plant) and Savini Due (also a furniture plant).
"Our own market is in constant development, on the one hand owing to the growing private real estate sector, and on the other to the development of industrial construction industry. Therefore market demand is generated by a need to build homes and collective housing complexes, as well as production facilities, industrial halls, special installations and processing plants for various commodities," states Luca Anversa.
In 2006, Pomponio invested around 1.17m euros in acquiring new equipment and machinery; a move to that will be boosted this year, according to the company's officials.
The company's activities are currently carried out through its constructions, concrete and prefabricated concrete divisions.
"Besides our concrete and construction departments, our company has also developed on the production segment in recent years. We own a plant in Sebes producing prefabricated concrete, and a concrete mixing station in Alba covering a total area of 26,000 square metres," Luca Anversa also added.
The Pomponio company was set up in 2001 and currently employs 215 people. The company's shareholders are Italian businessmen.
