Asus wants leading position on PC segment in CEE

Boosting deals with CEE governments andpublic institutions will be a priority in the following period forTaiwan's Asus company, one of the world's biggest PC producers,which hopes it will this way secure the leading position in theregion in terms of computer sales.

Sales particularly related to the consumer and corporate segmenthave propelled Asus among the top three companies on the PC marketsof Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and Ukraine, according to companydata. In the third quarter of this year, Asus ranked second in theregion that also includes Romania on the netbook market, with salesof almost one million units. Asus is the second biggest company onthe Romanian PC market as well, behind another Taiwanese company,Acer.

Asus last year made 7.6bn dollars in revenues, 44% of which werebrought by Europe. A third of revenues posted in Europe come fromthe central and eastern region.

"For next year, we've budgeted a 20-30% increase in the numberof units sold in Europe. For CEE, a market that still has growthpotential, we count on 35% higher deliveries," said Erich Chen,vice-president with Asus, during a meeting with Eastern Europeanjournalists.
