Marcel Borodi, CEO and majority shareholder of the Brinel group of companies, believes the IT market's accelerated growth rate is primarily due to the maturity of clients, although, according to him, it will be at least another five years until Romanian companies reach a level comparable to those operating on the market in Western Germany.
According to the Cluj-based businessman, the company's growth can be aided by taking over already-formed companies with similar operations to Brinel, which only need investments to increase production capacities.
Brinel has budgeted investments worth around 2 million euros for this year, which it will use to acquire companies in the centre of the country, including new buildings and providing necessary equipment for the newly acquired companies.
Brinel has been manufacturing computers under the Alpis brand name since 1992 and last year introduced its own line of laptops.
According to Brinel's CEO, this year's biggest sales will be generated by its activity as an IT solutions provider, with 40% of the group's total sales being derived by the team in Cluj-Napoca.
"Our IT solutions and services segment has seen growth lately, so we have decided to stop delivering products to retail stores and focus our activity on developing and providing IT solutions," explained Marcel Borodi.
"Our expansion, towards the end of the year, in both Sibiu and Brasov relates to the economic development recently witnessed in these areas. We also want to fill the existing void on these markets in terms of software solutions for business management," added Borodi.
The manager of the Cluj-based IT group announced that Brinel had seen a 70% rise in financial indicators in the first four months of this year, against the same period last year, reaching 5 million euros.
