It was as late as yesterday, the deadline by which peoplederiving income from royalties income or from sole trader contractscould file insurance statements, that authorities opened distinctaccounts for the direct payment at the Treasury of contributionsrelated to independent activities income.
The queues that have formed in recent days in front of pensionhouse offices or employment agencies have gone unnoticed byGovernment representatives, who either believe they do not exist,or consider them to be normal for this period of the month.
The Labour Minister had to come up with explanations yesterdayafter Prime Minister Emil Boc had nonchalantly said there were noqueues in front of offices for the filing of statements, thoughthis had been the hot topic in the media in the previous twodays.
Mihai Şeitan announced that people who are late in filing thismonth's statements would not be fined, but his announcement has nolegal basis, analysts say.
"The enforcement guidelines of the ordinance clearly specify thatpeople who fail to submit the statement by the date of 25 will befined 2,500 to 5,000 RON. (...)" says Marius Stăncescu, chairman ofRiff Holding International, a financial and businessconsultancy.
