Becali, Popoviciu or Ţiriac, a lot of foreign investors, as wellas entrepreneurs who started doing business in other fields, suchas Marius Ivan or Lorand Szarvadi, are part of the group of thebiggest land owners in northern Bucharest, reads BUSINESS Constructmagazine.

The major landowners in the northern area and in neighbouringregions hold over 1,000 hectares of land, the equivalent of a townsuch as Alexandria or two times the size of Urziceni.

George Becali further leads as the biggest owner in the northernarea, controlling large areas both in Pipera-Voluntari, and inOtopeni and Balotesti. Becali's plans of building something onthese plots have always been "thin".

Gabriel Popoviciu raised two office buildings, 221 apartmentsand the biggest commercial park in Romania. Plans for the Baneasaproject are much bigger, though, as 100 hectares of land are stillunexploited.

On the other hand, Ţiriac family has put part of plans fornorthern Bucharest on hold, carrying out only the club part of theStejarii housing project of Baneasa.
