Harley Davidson Romania, a company controlled by former PrimeMinister Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, in the first six months of thisyear saw its sales go up by 20% to 26 motorbikes.
According to previous statements by Bogdan Bucurescu, generalmanager of Automotive Trading Services (ATS), the company owningboth the US brand's imports and Ford and Citroen brand dealers, thesales target for motorcycles stands at over 40 units thisyear.
The starting price for a Harley-Davidson motorbike stands at 6,700euros VAT not included, in the case of a Sporster range model,which last year accounted for over half of sales, and goes as highas almost 40,000 euros in the case of a personalised unit. Thus,according to ZF estimates, the US brand's sales would go beyond the600,000-euro mark this year.
Last year, Harley's sales in Romania declined by around 50% to 33units. Unlike other motorcycle brands, Harley Davidson inclusivelyattracts businesspeople who love the brand.
