In a year when many banks will be trying to catch their breathafter the bad loan blow of 2009, Dutch ING is getting ready to moreactive particularly on the segments of individuals and SMEs andseems ready to take greater risks by boosting lending. "We'll bevery active during the following period, because we must grow andreach critical business mass along all categories of bankingservices. We want to increase our exposure to Romania, expand ourbalance sheet and revenues. 2010 will be the year of ING," statesMisu Negritoiu, general manager of ING Bank Romania. He says theDutch group decided to support highly ambitious strategic goals inRomania, especially on the segment of individuals and SMEs. "Wewant to get to millions of individual clients in the next three tofive years". At present, the bank is trying to get close to the 1million individual clients mark. It is the first time ING announcessuch an extensive plan domestically, the more so as Romania hasn'tovercome the crisis, yet. "(...) In the new strategy, Romania ispositioned as a main market for ING group and enters the league ofmajor priorities in terms of geographical development. We nowpractically have the same treatment as Poland and Turkey and we'regetting greater support".
