Swiss-based Nestle, the biggest player on the instant coffeemarket with Nescafe, has announced it will open two coffee shops incentral Bucharest and Craiova in the coming period, which will beoperated by older partners of the producer.
Investments in these projects can be estimated at around onemillion euros and amount to the Swiss company tapping once againinto the coffee shops market, two years and a half after giving upthree locations in Bucharest.
The company's partners in the expansion of the Nescafe coffee shopchain are Greek-based Dyonissos Group and Biologistics, aCraiova-based distributor of Nestle Professional coffee vendingmachines.
Dyonissos Group has also been operating the Nescafe coffee shop inBăneasa Shopping City mall in Bucharest for around two and a halfyears, while Biologistics has been distributing Nestle coffeevending machines in six counties in southern Romania since2004.
In Bucharest, the Café Nescafe chain will open shops in PiaţaRomană, a highly central area where rent is around 40 euro persquare metre, which amounts to a renewed offensive of the Swisscompany on this segment, after in 2008 it gave up two centrallocations in Unirea Shopping Center and Bucureşti Mall and a shopin Plaza Bucureşti mall held by Anchor Grup.
