Brent Valmar, general manager of Porsche Romania, the biggest importer on the car market, says the dealership network will rise to over 100 locations, from 90 at present.
This year, Porsche Romania, the importer of VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat and Porsche brands, is set to expand its dealership network to over 100, exceeding that of Dacia, which has around 90 stores, considering the Romanian carmaker sold around 110,000 cars on the domestic market, and Porsche Romania a little above 58,000 units. In 2010, the number of dealerships is expected to reach 114.
"This year, Porsche Romania's network will include more than 100 dealerships. Domestically, post-sales and services activities will become highly important," Brent Valmar, general manager of Porsche Romania, also deputy chairman with the Association of Automotive Manufacturers and Importers in Romania (APIA), told ZF.
According to him, dealers' service capacity has been expanded, both through the introduction of two 8-hour shifts, in the case of Porsche Bucuresti Nord, and through the creation of new work points, in the case of Porsche Bucuresti Vest, to be finalised within a month.
Porsche sales during the first five months of this year rose by 8%, to a volume of over 23,400 units. Should this rate continue until yearend, the sales of the biggest importer are likely to reach 63,000 units.
"Porsche sales will stagnate this year, or slightly increase to a volume that ranges between 58,000 and 60,000 units. Stagnation will not be registered only by Porsche Romania, but also by several importers", said Valmar.
Among Porsche Romania's brands, Audi boasted the fastest growth, with 1,245 units sold during the first five months, up 11.6% from the same period of last year, considering the brand's target of 2,900 units would entail an increase of around 10%.
Skoda was the brand that posted the biggest sales, almost 10,400 units, followed by VW with 10,135 units.
Porsche Inter Auto network, Porsche Romania's main dealer, will add another two new locations in Bucharest in the following period. "(...) Investments will top 5m euros. The main financer of the project is Porsche Bank," added Valmar.
The dealer of the luxury brands of VW-Audi group will be officially opened in the first half of next year, according to Valmar.
