Seven people in Brasov latest millionaires on medical services market

Seven Brasov inhabitants, shareholders of Policlinica deDiagnostic Rapid (Rapid Diagnosis Polyclinic) in Brasov, collected3.5 million euros from the sale of an 80% stake in the company toMedLife, one of the biggest operators on the Romanian market.Lately, amid extension of big operators, increasingly moreshareholders of small clinics sold their stakes, with suchtransactions, though rather small, being among the few to becompleted.

At the end of last year Centrul Medical Unirea (Unirea MedicalCentre - CMU) bought a majority stake in a Bacau-based clinic fromthe Bujeni]` family, with the transaction amounting to one millioneuros. In 2008, CMU also took over 50% in Constan]a-based clinicsAvanmedica for 0.7 million euros from the Diculescu family. In thesame year the company paid 0.5 million euros to become ashareholder of Centrul Medical Mo]ilor in Cluj Napoca.

"We believe this to be a natural step in the development andevolution of the medical business," said Cosmin R`[in`, generalmanager and one of the shareholders of the Brasov polyclinic (with4% of the shares). Other shareholders of the company purchased byMedLife are Ileana Cristina Voss (15.99%), Radu-Iulina Popeia(15.99%), Emanuil Gheorghi]` (15.99%), Mihai-Stelian Varciu(15.99%), Cosmina Oproiu (15.99%), Claudia Simona Varciu (15.99%).Each sold in proportion to their stake. None of the shareholdersfully exited the company.
