Teszari loses key people at RCS&RDS

18.03.2009, 17:22 18

Ovidiu Ghiman, 31, the man who had run RCS&RDS’ aggressive commercial strategy to gain clients over the last five years, has left the company for a top management position at rival Romtelecom, where he reports to CEO Yorgos Yoannidis. Ghiman took over as director of strategy and business development of the biggest fixed telephony operator on the domestic market, controlled by OTE and Deutsche Telekom groups, at the beginning of the month.
ZF was the first to report about talks between Romtelecom and Ghiman, in its January 30 issue.
Ovidiu Ghiman had been working for the operator controlled by Zoltan Teszari since 1998. After being promoted to commercial manager in 2004, he was in charge of sales, customer relations and commercial operations and, as such, was one of the top fifteen people in RCS&RDS’ management team.
Once promoted inside RCS&RDS, Ovidiu Ghiman received, as did development director Valentin Popoviciu, a 0.4% stake in RCS&RDS, whose market value stands at more than 3 million euros. Last year ZF and Capital Partners investment firm put the value of RCS&RDS at 790 million euros.
Ghiman could not be reached by the time the story was ready for print to provide clarification whether he had sold the 0.4% stake in RCS&RDS or not before leaving for Romtelecom. Latest Trade Registry data show Ghiman is still one of the RCS&RDS shareholders.
Other than Ghiman, several people in the third and fourth management tiers have left RCS&RDS in the past year. One of them is Razvan Agrosoaie, recruited by UPC Romania, the second-largest cable TV operator, for the sales manager position.
