Ten car brands saw sales increases in the first ten months ofthis year compared with the similar period of 2009, according tostatistics of the Automotive Manufacturers and ImportersAssociation, with four of the brands being utility vehicles, andthree, BMW, MINI and Porsche, being premium and luxury brands. InOctober, the penultimate month in the "Rabla" car scrappage schemewhen cars older than ten years can be scrapped, nearly 20 carbrands saw their sales up, with Opel and Seat seeing even athree-digit increase, which has not been seen in over threeyears.
On the other hand, brands such as Saab, Jaguar and Lada did notmanage to sell any car on the Romanian market last month, whileLexus, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler sold a few units each.In July 14 car brands saw positive results, while in the firstseven months, 13 brands were on the rise, according to APIA.
In the ranking of the top ten best-selling car brands, onlyChevrolet saw an over 26% rise in the first ten months of the year,while the rest saw declines between 3% in the case of Opel and over50% in the case of Hyundai and Fiat. As far as the best-sellingmodels are concerned, seven out of ten models saw rises betweenJanuary and October, with the biggest ones being recorded by OpelAstra (188%) and Ford Fiesta (80%), and the smallest one by VW Golf(1%).
