Toyota Romania, the importer of the Toyota and Lexus brands on the domestic market, the latter of which is the Japanese carmaker's luxury brand, posted an almost 45% sales increase in February, and reached a total of 873 units (856 Toyota models, and 17 Lexus). The cumulated sales of Toyota Romania for the first two months reached 1,672 units, an increase of 50% against the same time last year. The best-selling models were Avensis, Yaris and Corolla. Toyota Romania sales reached 10,301 units in 2007, an increase of almost 70% on 2006. According to previous statements from Mihai Bordeanu, Toyota Romania's marketing manager, the company's sales on the domestic market are expected to increase by more than 30% this year, by 3,200 units on last year. More than 82% of the units sold this year were expected to be models from the carmaker's main segments - Aygo, Yaris, Auris, Corolla and Avensis, whose sales are forecast to go up by 40-50%, Bordeanu added.
