What does Romanian airlines' fleet look like?

Romanian airlines Tarom, Blue Air and Carpatair, with around400m-euro cumulated turnover in 2009, together spend around 180meuros annually on aircraft maintenance, according to ZFcalculations, which take into account average annual maintenancecosts of 3m euros per aircraft. The three airlines operate 59aircraft aged between eight and twelve years, with maintenancecosts per aircraft ranging between 1 and 5m euros depending on thetype of aircraft. Carpatair operates 18 aeroplanes (12 Saabs with a50-seat capacity, three 105-seat and three 70-seat Fokkers) aged 12years on the average. Blue Air has signed an acquisition contractfor five Boeing 737-800 Next Generation planes, to be delivered bylate 2013. Blue Air operates 15 aircraft. Tarom operates sevenaircraft models (of the Boeing, Airbus and ATR class). Besideaircraft acquisition and maintenance costs, airlines spend anotherseveral million euros on salaries and pilot and flight attendanttraining. Almost 405 pilots and 548 flight attendants are workingfor the three companies, with the average salary of a flightattendant standing at 1,000 euros, while a pilot's salary can go ashigh as 5,000 euros, according to market data.
