Zara opens first store in Piteşti in an over one hundred year old building

Inditex Spanish retailer, owning Zara brand, is set to open, byyearend, its first store in Piteşti, in a building over 110 yearsold located downtown, according to market information.
Based on ZF calculations, the opening of the store, set to have anover 1,000 square metre area, will require more than two millioneuros, taking into account the Spanish company invests 2,000 euroson average per square metre to fit out stores.
The chosen building, which belonged to Forstiropol family, was 60years ago transferred to state administration and since 1994 it hasbeen owned by Cardinal Triumf company, a firm privatised throughthe MEBO method.
For many years, Argeş restaurant operated in the building, butlately the building has been operating as a general store.
This is the second street front retail space where the Spanishcompany opens a Zara store domestically, after that of UnireaShopping Center, opened in the first half of 2009. Also, this isthe first store to be opened in a historical building, pursuing thecompany's international strategy.
