ZF provides first ever ranking of MBA programmes in Romania

18.03.2008, 20:17 25

Executive MBA programmes at the Vienna University of Economics and Business administration, Asebuss, and Tiffin University are the best on the domestic market, reveals the first ever ranking of MBA and Executive MBA programmes in Romania, in a supplement compiled by ZF.
The ranking was created from almost 300 questionnaires that were filled in last year by students from business schools in Romania, which evaluated the programmes using several criteria, such as salary raises, networking, promotion, job changes etc.
Currently, there are 12 manager-training programmes available on the market - five Executive MBAs and seven MBAs, with three more poised to launch soon.
More than 2,000 Romanian managers have completed an MBA or EMBA programme, most of whom chose local programmes. Almost 500 executives will complete MBA and EMBA programmes this year. With this in mind, ZF deemed it essential to launch the first MBA ranking on the Romanian market.
The MBA and EMBA programme rankings are compiled annually or every two years by the most prestigious business publications in the world, such as the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Economist and Forbes.
ZF's survey includes all the schools that offer MBA and EMBA programmes in Romania. Local schools are those that allow students to attend their classes in Romania.
They include the representative offices of some foreign business schools, as well as local universities that operate under international partnerships. However, a local business school has yet to expand outside Romania.
The ranking was based on two questionnaires - one for the representatives of business schools and one for last year's graduates. All in all, 500 questionnaires were sent and 300 processed, which accounts for a response rate of more than 40% from each school.
The "Top MBA" ranking comprises the final ranking of the programmes, as well as ratings built in line with 17 different criteria. It also includes interviews with business school representatives, MBA graduates, and lists the best programmes available throughout the world.
What happens after graduation? Generally, there are three main options a manager can consider - promotion in the company where they already work, a change of job, i.e. moving to another company and to a better position, or to start their own business.
However, it is apparent that Romanian managers are currently experimenting with all three of these options.
