Auchan and BelRom pay 30m euros for 12 ha in Electroputere

The family of Mulliez businesspeople, who controls the Auchan,Decathlon and Leroy Merlin chains, has bought in partnership withtwo Belgian businesspeople, managers of the BelRom group, a12-hectare plot of the Electroputere Craiova industrial site, in adeal worth over 30 million euros.

"The agreement that Auchan and K&S Developments concluded today(a company controlled by Kris Carton and Steven van den Bossche,BelRom managers i.e.) provides for the acquisition of a 12-hectareplot of the land held by Electroputere Craiova and for building theshopping centre that will open in the second half of 2011," Auchanrepresentatives announced.
The investment in the project that will cover 63,000 square metreswill amount to 90 million euros, 30 million of which is theacquisition price of the land, which accommodates a structure thatwill be integrated into the future shopping centre, according tosources close to the deal.
The Mulliez family will open both an Auchan hypermarket within theproject, and Leroy Merlin, Decathlon, Kiabi stores, as well as aNorauto centre, while BelRom representatives will rent out a 25,000square-metre area to around 100 tenants, with the project's brokerbeing DTZ Echinox.
