Heinz, the American ketchup brand distributed on the Romanian market by BDG Import, importer of the Jack Daniel's whisky, Corona beer and Evian mineral water, forecasts a 2 million-euro turnover in Romania this year, according to BDG representatives. "In the first half of the year, Heinz's sales volume saw an over 30% increase on the same time last year," said Gratiela Scarlat, brand manager at BDG Import. The main reasons behind this growth, and also the company's forecast for the brand's financial results for 2007, are the fact that the market is starting to consolidate, with consumers' tastes shifting towards products with a higher added value. "The sales growth was also aided by the diversification of our sauce varieties in the first half of this year and by the launch of ABC sauces in the "value for money" category, as well as by Heinz's new acquisitions- the HP and Lea & Perrins sauce brands," added the BDG representative.
