Swedish rolling stock producer Bombardier Transportation, whose only client on the local market is Metrorex, announced that the total value of deliveries for the Bucharest subway stands at 300 million euros. "Our partnership with Metrorex started in 1999, and we have reached orders amounting to 300 million euros for trains and signalling devices. We are currently carrying out our current orders," stated Jean Berge, marketing and sales vicepresident of the Mainline & Metros division of Bombardier. The first contract signed with Metrorex entailed the delivery of 18 trains with a total of 108 carriages for the Pipera line. In total, Bombardier will have delivered 44 trains for Metrorex by the time the contract is concluded. Bombardier trains are assembled in the Electroputere Craiova plant, with the level of local integration standing below 10%, according to company representatives.
