Electrica unable to buy electricity on OPCOM platform

14.02.2007, 19:06 13

The tenders scheduled by Electrica for the acquisition of electricity through the platform managed by OPCOM yesterday were cancelled, as no supplier had submitted any offers, OPCOM representatives told the MEDIAFAX agency. Electrica had scheduled five tenders for yesterday, for the acquisition of 1.65 million MWh. "The tenders were cancelled since no bidders had submitted an offer, as had happened the previous day," said OPCOM representatives. Electrica also submitted four bids on the centralised market of bilateral contracts on Monday, for the acquisition of 1.81 million MWh, but the tenders were cancelled, due to the fact that none of the participants had deposited the necessary guarantees, accounting for 2% of the value of the contract. Electrica representatives could not be contacted for any statements. The prices, for which the electricity distributor intended to buy energy, both on Monday and on Tuesday, stood at 160 RON/MWh to 166 RON/MWh.
