The average value of overdue payments for bank credits has climbed to 700 euros, with increasingly more clients having overdue payments at two or more banks, according to George Kovacs, general manager of EOS KSI Romania, one of the leading debt collectors on the local market. The company collected debts worth 47 million euros last year, with one third of turnover being generated by bank credits (The company is working with 9 of the 10 leading banks on the market). "The average value of overdue payments for credits stands at over 700 euros in Romania, having risen lately. The frequency of double or triple debts has increased, as well, i.e. the frequency of people having debts with two or more banks," says Kovacs. The biggest amount recovered by EOS KSI Romania from an individual amounted to 15,000 euros, while, for corporate entities, the debt can climb to around 500,000 euros. "Currently, outsourced debt recovery includes credit card, credit limit and consumer credits. However, banks do not outsource debt collection for mortgage credits, because the volume of such loans remains rather low," adds Kovacs.
