17.05.2010, 21:38 11

Insurance companies want to gain access to information regardingthe number of fines or of penalty points accumulated by each driverwho seals a car insurance policy in order to come up with differentprices depending on each insured driver's risk profile. "Weconstantly have to deal with show-off drivers causing damage. Forus to be able to come up with a fair price for each individualclient, we need to have the information about their drivinghistory," stated Eugen Stoica, head of the claims department of BCRAsigurari, during an insurance workshop organised by Finmedia.Stoica also proposes the modification of legislation so that itshould allow the use of used car parts for cars repaired on thebasis of a claims file given that insurers currently pay for newparts irrespective of the wear and tear of the replaced parts.Catalin Stroe, head of the alternative sales unit of Asirom, saysthat an important step on the insurance market would be theintroduction of the direct compensation system, whereby claims canbe settled by the damaged person's insurer. In its turn, theinsurer would get its money back from the culprit's insurer througha clearing system.
