Murfatlar wine producer, one of the main players in theindustry, expects sales through its own cellars to reach over 14meuros over the next two years, more than half of currentturnover.

The producer is the first in the wine industry to announceaggressive retail expansion plans, as it wants to reach severalhundred wine cellars in two or three years, securing it nationalcoverage.
"The cellars will be all over the country. The first three are inBucharest and the fourth in Brăila. Sales can be double from onelocation to another, depending on location," Daniel Negrescu, brandmanager with Murfatlar, told ZF in an interview.
Last year, the company generated turnover worth 119.76m RON (28.3meuros), with 136m RON (32m euros) being budgeted for 2010.
Specialised wine retail is really poorly developed, with the mainstores, positioned, however, on the high price segment, being thoseof Vinexpert. Last year, though, entrepreneur Tiberiu Duma openedPatria Vinum network tackling the low and medium-price level.
