The Urlaţi, Prahova, plant of US Procter&Gamblegiant, one of the few plants built from scratch in Romania after1990 on the consumer goods segment, has come to manufactureshampoos and hair care products at 40% of total capacity.
"Since September, since the official plant opening until now, we'vereached 40% of total capacity and we hope to keep up our growthpace and reach an 80% production capacity by autumn," said CorneliaSofronie Piţigoi, external relations manager withProcter&Gamble Marketing Romania.

The US group's representatives have not specified the plant's totalproduction capacity so far.
Though unwilling to specify the value of exports, P&Grepresentatives stated that around 90% of overall production hadgone abroad over the past three months.
Romania has thus become a shampoo exporter though it has to importboth soap and toothpaste because Colgate-Palmolive US giant in 2008closed the last plant it held in the country, in Braşov.
