Interstar Chim, the maker of Rivex detergents and Biocarpet carpet cleaning products, last year made a 12.5 million dollar (around 10 million euro) turnover, an increase of 17% on 2003, according to marketing manager Carmen Oancea. "Most of the markets on which the company operates witnessed strong growth in 2004. Toilet seat cleaning products, window washing products and fabric conditioners stood out with growth of more than 30%, according to AC Nielsen data," Oancea added. The company owns a 7,000 sqm factory in Bucharest and is currently employing 350 people. Most of its products are sold domestically, though some are exported to Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova and Macedonia. Interstar Chim is a Greek-held company that has its production centre in Romania from where it ships products to several countries in the region. It is now investing in a production facility in Ukraine. It plans to achieve a 20% growth in turnover up to 15 million dollars in 2005. ZF
