Automobile Bavaria, the importer of BMW cars in Romania, estimates sales of 75 units for its Series 7 model, which was officially launched in Romania this week. The price for this model starts at 55,900 euros excluding tax. According to chief executive Michael Schmidt, Automobile Bavaria had sold 260 units by the end of March this year, after posting better than expected sales in 2004. Last year was the first time when BMW exceeded the 1,000-unit threshold in terms of sales, generating 45 million euros of turnover. Romania is the second most important market in the region for BMW, after Turkey, followed by Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia. Automobile Bavaria has concluded a protocol with the royal family, which will see King Mihai and Queen Ana travel through Romania in a BMW Series 7. ZF
