64 million euros for Valea Prahovei

05.02.2003, 00:00 9

The Busteni-Gura Diham-Poiana Izvoarelor-Poiana Costila area might be turned into a touristic resort under a privately-funded 64 million euro project. "The area is to become a larger resort than Sinaia and Busteni, as, among others, the project entails building four hotels, fitting seven ski slopes and the access road, as well as setting up cable transport installations. The works will be carried out in three stages and take up about three years. The first stage is scheduled to begin some time this year," Mircea Cosma, chairman of the Prahova County Council said. The project is administrated by the "Omu Mountain Resort" Company, held by Swiss-based Rowema (49%), the Busteni Local Council (49%) and the Prahova County Council (2%). Rowema, which specialises in cable transport systems, undertook to finance the works by contract. "The public authorities will come up with the land and the Swiss company will come up with the money. The feasibility study of the project is completed and we are expecting the Public Finance Ministry to decide by the end of February whether to provide the State guarantee (i.e. secure the loan) or not," Cosma added.
