ABB and Alstom post record profits

25.05.2006, 00:00 12

Multinationals that delivered equipment to companies on the energy market benefited from the privatisations in this sector. ABB posted a profit worth 2.65 million euros last year, a five-fold increase against last year, and Alstom saw a profit worth 5.2 million euros, through their Romanian branches. Alstom had been in the red in the previous year. ABB and Alstom are among the highest ranking suppliers on the Romanian market, both in terms of state companies and in terms of private clients. ABB Romania, a branch of the Swiss - Swedish group ABB, reported a 25% growth in the above-mentioned time period. The French group Alstom, involved on the energy and transport market, also derived profit in 2005. Alstom Power Romania, an equipment supplier on the energy market, registered profit, with Alstom Transport making a decisive contribution to the group profit, as it has an ongoing 15-year maintenance contract with the Bucharest subway. The contract could, however be suspended. ZF
