Alcoa Fujikura SRL, a manufacturer of electric wiring for the car industry, estimates an approximately 31 million-euro turnover this year, a 40% increase against figures for 2006.
"The main factors we will take into consideration when making this year's estimates include the fact that the production facility in Bihor county will be developed to its full capacity, whereas the new production lines transferred from the plant in Nadab last year will operate at full potential, as yet they have merely undergone a trial period," Adriana Lenardt, communication and human resources manager at Alcoa Fujikura, told ZF Transilvania.
The company intends to hire over 500 people for its production facility in Beius, Bihor county, which at present employs 370 people.
"We have not yet set the values of investments targeted for the development of production in Beius, as it largely depends on how soon we find acceptable employees," added Adriana Lenardt.
Last year, the company posted approximately 22.2 million euros in turnover, a 32% increase against 2005 when the turnover had stood at 16.9 million euros. At the beginning of last year, Alcoa Fujikura had forecast 19.9 million-euro turnover, however by the end of the year, estimates had already been exceeded.
Alcoa Fujikura opened its third production facility in Romania last year, in Beius, Bihor county. Alcoa Fujikura did not make a greenfield investment in Bihor county, but instead chose to rent an already existing space.
The new plant has a total surface area of 3,600 square metres, and production began in May 2006. According to company officials, products manufactured at the new facility are transferred to the other plants, within the group in Romania, and to Alcoa plants in the Czech Republic, Portugal and Hungary.
The company holds two facilities in Romania, one in Nadab (Arad county) and the other in Caransebes (Caras-Severin county). In 2005, it invested around 1.4 million euros in expanding the production capacities of the two facilities.
