Complet Electro Serv (CES), a domestic company (part of the Altex group) that manufactures personal computers, registered a turnover worth 10.81 million euros (35.61 million RON) in the first half of this year, up 53 percent from the 7.07 million euros (24.94 million RON) derived during the same period last year, Gabriel Jitaru, CEO of the company, told ZIARUL FINANCIAR.
The CES official forecasts a 15 percent full-year turnover increase. According to data from the Finance Ministry, CES last year reported a turnover worth 17.2 million euros (60.83m RON) and losses worth 554,365 euros (1.95 million RON). The company, which is headquartered in Piatra Neamt, currently produces PCs both on the segment of desktop systems (through the Davio and Myria brands) and on the laptop segment (through the Myria brand).
According to Gabriel Jitaru, CES manufactured 15 -16 percent more units in the first half of this year compared with the same period in 2006.
"The company's turnover growth is currently sustained by the rising demand for systems that include software packages and higher quality parts, despite the recent price drop for hardware components," added a company official.
CES plans to step-up its business-to-business sales, a segment it entered two months ago, explained Mihai Traistaru, operations manager with CES. He added the firm also intended to sell its products through tenders.
More than ninety percent of the total volume of systems produced are sold in Altex and Media Galaxy stores, while the remaining PCs are delivered to public institutions through governmental programmes.
Last year, Complet Electro Serv launched a PC assembly line with investments worth 1.5 million euros. According to company officials, this is the most up-to-date assembly line in South Eastern Europe. Mihai Traistaru also specified the facility employs 30 people and has the capacity to produce 400 personal computers per day.
The assembly line is modular and can be expanded at any time, or adjusted in order to produce other components, such as mobile phones or optical drives. The twenty workstations allow for multiple parts to be simultaneously assembled and the software checking and installation procedures are entirely automated, in order to avoid any human errors.
In the second quarter of this year, Complet Electro Serv increased its market share to 9.6 percent, while the number of delivered units went up by 17 percent compared with the corresponding period last year.
The company accounts for a 13.8 percent share of the desktop system market and almost 2 percent of the laptop segment.
