Amplast Leresti anticipates sales of 7.2 million euros this year, up nearly 10% on 2003 when turnover reached 6.5 million euros. "Amplast has had a pace of growth in sales of 10% in real terms each year, and we expect the same for this year, as well," said Octavian Barbu, marketing manager of Amplast Leresti. Next year's turnover should reach 8 million euros, Barbu added. Amplast was hurt, as were in fact all Romanian plastics producers, by the rise in the petroleum price, which drove up prices for the petroleum derivates used in the manufacturing process. "The price of polystyrene, one of the raw materials Amplast uses, has doubled since the beginning of the year," explained Barbu, who believes the relative stabilisation of raw material prices will occur in the first quarter of next year.
