Astra insurance company targets the maritime and aviation insurance market this year, as well as home insurance, after having seen auto and malpractice policies account for the bulk of its sales in 2003. "Astra intends to go on with its expansion process both domestically and internationally, namely to consolidate its position on the maritime and aviation insurance market in Romania. At the same time, we are considering a stronger emphasis on the individual segment for optional insurance, especially considering the fiscal deductions," deputy chairman Dan Domnitanu said. Astra split off from the former state-owned insurer ADAS in 1990 and took over all of the latter's foreign operations so that this line of business would only mean getting back to its roots. ZF
