14.09.2007, 18:59 9

Banca Romaneasca, the domestic arm of National Bank of Greece, in the first 8 months of this year generated gross income worth 8m euros. In the first six months, the bank reported an operating income worth 5.2m euros, up 20% against the same period last year. In late August, the volume of loans granted climbed to 1.2bn euros, compared with a little more than 1bn euros in June. The bank's general manager, Andreas Maragkoudakis, was reluctant to make estimates for the yearend, but considers the turnover growth rate will continue. After the first half of this year, loans registered an annualised growth of around 80%. Though Banca Romaneasca has managed to register dynamic growth on the lending segment, he says the bank has a "prudent policy" in terms of financing, more restrictive than other players' policies, particularly on the corporate segment.
