30.04.2008, 18:09 19

Floorboard producer Barlinek, held by Michal Solowow, the wealthiest Polish businessman, will change the name of the Romanian floorboard producer Diana Forest, which it acquired for 23 million euros at the beginning of this year, to Barlinek Romania. "Apart from the investments into expanding our floorboard production capacity from 0.8 million square metres to 2.8 million square metres, we also plan to manufacture pellets (ecological fuel made of sawdust) at a capacity of 20,000 millions square metres a year and the production of skirtings with a capacity of about several million metres a year," said Mariusz Gromek, President of the Supervisory Board of Barlinek S.A. Investments earmarked for these projects will exceed 10 million euros, with the company currently involved in advanced negotiations with a supplier of a floorboard production line, with a view to significantly increasing Diana Forest's capacity. The deadline for completing the investments is spring next year. "According to our analysis, the potential of the Romanian market is satisfying, and this is one of the reasons why we have decided to invest here. However, part of our floorboard production will be exported," said Gromek, without providing further details.
