Bergenbier brewer, ranking third on the beer market, which hasrecently announced it would close the Blaj brewery and lay off over170 employees, has expanded its sales team by 12% since the startof the year to the end of spurring the company's sales in districtstores.
"Boosting our sales force was a necessary move amid the currentmarket conditions, when sales must be maximised. Therefore, we'veinvested in activities that directly generate volumes: brandpromotion and distribution boosting. Hiring was mainly operatedthrough external recruitment, but there were also internalpromotions on certain positions," stated Mihai Ghyka, generalmanager of Bergenbier SA, part of StarBev group, with 135m-euroturnover last year.
The sales team increase has been announced shortly after thecompany's management decided to start talks with trade unions tohalt production of Blaj brewery and relocate it to Ploie[ti,Bergenbier's largest domestic production facility.
