The growth in the market and in number of cars, together with an increased number of car accidents, has boosted the business of GimaRom Invest, one of the top distributors of windscreens on the Romanian market.

For this year, the company expects its turnover to rise by 30% due to investments in developing its network of workshops and fitting stations, along with market growth.

"We have invested more than 600,000 euros in two new workshops and fitting stations in Targu Mures and Satu Mare. In the wake of this year''s investments, combined with the development of the car market, we estimate turnover of about 6.5 million euros," said Robert Burkhardt, general manager of GimaRom Invest.

Last year, the company logged turnover of 5 million euros. Half the company''s turnover is derived from work performed for insurance companies, with the rest coming from direct retail sales.

GimaRom has partnerships with several insurance companies, including Allianz-Tiriac, Asirom, Omniasig and Unita. At the same time, for some insurers the company records the damage directly at the windscreen centre, once the broken or cracked window is replaced.

According to company officials, the largest proportion of its turnover, 90%, comes from its windscreen trade, distribution and fitting activities, a segment where the company is a market leader with a share of 55-60%.

The company, which has its headquarters in Cluj, is part of the Hungarian Gima & GimaRom group. It has a network of 19 workshops and has 136 employees. The company works with a permanent stock of 50,000 windows.
