Cluj-based brokerage company Broker made a gross profit worth 8.84 million RON (2.61 million euros) in the first quarter of this year, 38% higher than in the same period last year. The value of Broker's net assets also increased by almost 75% from March 2006 through March 2007, to 91.4 million RON (27.2 million euros), an increase prompted both by the new investments made following the capital increase, and by the growth of the Stock Exchange. Broker's share portfolio stood at 64.4 million RON (19.2 million euros) at the end of March, up by almost 60% against the same period in March 2006. At the same time, the BET-C index, which monitors the progress of all companies on the Stock Exchange, with the exception of the SIFs (Financial Investment Companies) gained 25%, while the index for SIFs, the BET-FI increased by 28%.
