People in Romania are fitting more and more foreign cars with brakes, wires, tapestry or steering wheels following investments made by automotive component manufacturers in this part of the world, and, on the other hand are importing cars thus equipped and pay twice more for them. Therefore imports of vehicles could reach 2bn euros this year, twice higher than last year, while exports of automotive components and equipment, also twice higher than last year, should be somewhere in the neighbourhood of one billion euros. Imports of road vehicles came to total 900 million euros by mid 2004, up nearly 100% from the corresponding period of 2003. ZF
