Caroli sells Maestro plant to printing house

Charcuterie producer Caroli Foods, which ranked second on the market in terms of turnover in 2006, has completed the sale of the former charcuterie plant Maestro in Cluj-Napoca, to foreign-held printing company Ditovis. The company was set up in 1995 by shareholders Chrelias Vasileios and Cyprus-based company Worldfield Ltd. Last year, Ditovis posted turnover worth around 400,000 euros, according to data available on the Ministry of Finance website. Caroli Foods held 2,000 square-metres of land and a 1,000 square-metre building in the Iris district, evaluated by real estate experts at a maximum of 800,000 euros. "The plant in Cluj and the land that goes with it were acquired by the Caroli Foods group in 2006, and were recently sold to a company interested in investing in the area. The transaction was concluded at a value in line with local price levels," Haluk Akdemir, CEO of Caroli Foods, told ZF Transilvania. According to the management of Caroli Foods, the company wanted to develop its production locally, but the lack of space available and the inconvenient location prevented the Maestro business from growing. Under the circumstances, it was necessary to relocate production to Pitesti, where more space was available.
