Dacia Sandero set to sell 13,000 units locally in 2008

04.07.2008, 21:53 10

Dacia Sandero, the fifth model released by the local Automobile Dacia manufacturer and built on the Logan platform, is expected to account for over 20% of Dacia sales in Romania in the second half of the year. "The new Dacia Sandero will sell over 13,000 units on the local market in 2008. In June, the first month since the model became available on the market, demand was over 120% above initial expectations," Jacques Daniel, commercial manager for Dacia, Renault and Nissan, told ZF. Dacia officials did not wish to reveal the exact sales figures, with the company's June results to be released at a future date. Sandero was launched on the local market at the beginning of June, but has been available on the French market since May. Unlike the other Dacia models, it started selling on the Western markets around the same time it did on the Romanian market. According to Dacia officials, the local manufacturer delivered Sandero models on markets that included Germany, France, Italy and Spain, while its launch in the UK (a right hand drive version) is scheduled for 2010. In the second half of this year, two 1.5-litre diesel engines with 70 and 85 HP respectively, will be added to the range of engines available for the Sandero, in addition to the petrol-driven 1.4 and 1.6-litre engines.
