Tudor Comaniciu, the majority shareholder in Delaco, a major player on the domestic market of cheese products, with turnover worth around 17m euros last year, says that turnover doubling this year is supported by distribution expansion in the hotel-restaurant-catering segment.
"The turnover we will register at the end of this year is the outcome of several decisions including the introduction of new products, the partnership with Zott (producer of Jogobella yoghurts i.e.), investments in promotion, the sales team's expansion and improved efficiency, as well as the expansion of distribution on new commercial channels as we are now present in hotel-restaurant-catering segment through Athenee Palace Hilton and Pro Hotels or Pizza Hut pizza chain," stated Comaniciu, the company's general manager and majority shareholder.
The company's representatives put this year's turnover at around 40m euros, more than double the level reached last year, when the company hit turnover worth around 60.9m RON (17.3m euros) and net income of around 2m RON (575,000 euros), according to Finance Ministry data.
Comaniciu stated the company could seal further distribution contracts in the near future, both with domestic and European dairy industry producers.
Delaco products are manufactured both in Romania and in other countries, but they are all packaged in the company's production facilities in Brasov county. At present, around 65% of Delaco products are sold through international store chains, with the rest of 35% going to the traditional market.
