Electrocontact freezes jobs to match decline in orders

23.04.2009, 21:51 19

Auto wiring manufacturer Electrocontact Romania, a part of auto division of French group Nexans, will adjust its workforce to match the low demand in the auto industry via natural personnel fluctuation, with vacancies no longer being filled. "Our company is not making redundancies. If a position is left vacant after someone leaves the company, it will not be advertised as vacant," said Electrocontact Romania's development manager, Octavian Barnutiu. He added it would be hard to predict how many employees would leave the company this year, because the absence of other job offers could determine employees tempted to leave the company to stay with their current jobs. Electrocontact has two plants in Romania in Arad county (Western Romania). The two production facilities employ around 1,000 staff.
