Eximtur enters Bucharest market

27.01.2004, 00:00 10

Eximtur Cluj, one of Romania's main tour-operators, posted turnover worth more than 10m euros last year, up 18% from 2002 (when it logged 8.5m euros). The company's officials expect a similar increase this year, as Eximtur has also opened an office in Bucharest. Eximtur will thus enter the Capital market, after having worked mainly in Romania's northern and western cities - Cluj, Timisoara, Sibiu, Baia Mare. The Bucharest-based office is already operating, but will be officially launched in a month. Last year, Eximtur was among the main players on the Romanian seaside tourism, with sales worth 2.4 million euros. "Turnover went up last year also because we opened a new agency in Baia Mare and were accredited by TUI in November 2002," says Lucia Morariu, the tour operator's president. Profit was smaller last year (2.2bn ROL) than the 4.5bn ROL posted in 2002 because of the increased investments, according to the company's management. ZF
