Farinsan wants to generate power to cut costs

19.10.2008, 18:14 11

Special flour and bakery producer Farinsan, which estimates 16 million euro turnover by the end of the year, intends to invest approximately 1.5 million euros in building a wind farm in Giurgiu County over the next two years, driven on by the rising costs of raw materials. "A single wind power plant would make us self-sufficient energy-wise. The project will be started when we are certain the air currents are good for power generation. We are waiting for the area to be monitored, which will take more than six months," stated Ioan Vladu, general manager of Farinsan. The company official added he did not plan to form a partnership with another producer for this project and explained that Farinsan had the necessary plot of land to build such a plant. "Our calculations show that such an investment would require about 1.5 million euros and we hope to be able to secure half of the money from structural funds," Vladu added.
