Autoitalia, official importer of the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ssang Yong, Maseratti car brands and of Honda motorcycles in Romania posted a 2.87 million-euro profit for the 2006 financial year, up 215% against the 0.91 million euros posted in 2005, according to information provided by Autoitalia to ZF. In the same period, the company's turnover increased by 66.8% reaching 80.3 million euros, from 48.17 million euros in 2005. The rise in the company's financial results was prompted by an increase in the company's volume of sales. In 2006, the company sold 10,452 cars, 10% more than the initial estimate, and 50% more on the approximately 7,000 units sold the previous year. For 2007, company representatives estimated a 20% rise in sales, which could therefore reach 12,000-13,000 units. Last year, the best-selling brand in the company's portfolio, Fiat, witnessed a 56% increase, to 6,491 units. During the same period, Alfa Romeo sold 237 units, 27% more than in 2005.
